Job Description

Overview

Wegmans is seeking a part-time Loss Prevention Officer to ensure the safety of customers and employees by maintaining a visible presence in the store and addressing security concerns. The role involves patrolling, monitoring the store environment, and intervening in conflicts, contributing to a safe shopping experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey the outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and/or customers as requested
  • Intervene with and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows and gates to ensure high levels of security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity on the property

Required skills

  • 1+ years of full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgment skills and the ability to manage conflict under pressure
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze and identify opportunities
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field (preferred)
  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (preferred)
  • AED, APR and FAC certified (preferred)
