Overview

Weyerhaeuser Company Limited is seeking a Log Haul Specialist to join their Hudson Bay operations team in Alcomdale, Alberta. This critical role focuses on optimizing log transportation performance, ensuring safe and compliant deliveries, and fostering strong relationships with external stakeholders. The position offers a blend of office and field work, with potential hybrid flexibility.

Key responsibilities

  • Champion safety values and foster a strong safety culture
  • Ensure compliant delivery of logs to the mill and regional customers
  • Identify, onboard, and secure adequate trucking capacity
  • Coordinate and oversee log truck fleet management activities
  • Monitor trucking contractor performance and address compliance issues
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors and regulatory stakeholders
  • Utilize logistic tools for increased efficiency and safety
  • Contribute to special projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Required skills

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, or forestry operations
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • Ability to manage contractors and adapt to changing business needs
  • Knowledge of computer-based truck tracking systems (GPS)
  • Solid planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
