Overview

Alsum Farms is seeking a Local Driver to transport fresh produce orders within a 300-mile radius. The role requires both driving and interaction with customers, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) for local transportation of products
  • Load and unload produce from the vehicle as needed
  • Plan efficient delivery routes considering traffic and weather
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety and functionality
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel compensation
  • Interact courteously with customers and obtain delivery confirmations
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety practices
  • Communicate delivery status updates with dispatchers and team members
  • Be flexible with work hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Required skills

  • Valid state Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Minimum of one year of tractor/trailer driving experience
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations
  • Proficient in driving, maneuvering, and parking large vehicles
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Self-motivated and able to work as part of a team
  • Familiarity with Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software
