Overview

Alsum Farms is seeking a Local Driver to deliver fresh produce orders to customers within a 300-mile radius. The role involves operating a semi-tractor and trailer, ensuring safety compliance, and interacting professionally with customers during deliveries.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) to transport product locally
  • Load and unload produce using equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks
  • Plan efficient delivery routes considering traffic and weather conditions
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any issues
  • Keep accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel compensation
  • Interact with customers and handle delivery confirmations and concerns
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Prioritize safety while driving and handling cargo
  • Communicate with dispatchers and team members about delivery status
  • Be willing to work various hours as needed

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year of tractor/trailer driving experience
  • Valid state Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations
  • Proficient at driving large vehicles
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented
