Job Description

Overview

FSA Federal is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) in its mission to combat crime and enhance public safety. This role involves reviewing investigative reports, preparing legal documents, and assisting attorneys in pretrial preparations, with a focus on forfeiture cases and legal compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Review investigative reports and determine the need for additional information and evidence.
  • Evaluate new and complex cases for litigation worthiness and appropriate legal standards.
  • Prepare legal pleadings, motions, and draft legal memoranda for the attorney.
  • Assist attorneys in pretrial preparations and organize discovery materials.
  • Interview witnesses and manage case-related information and summaries.
  • Research case law using various automated legal research tools.
  • Assist in the preparation of court proceedings and evidentiary exhibits.
  • Provide training and supervision to other paralegals as necessary.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • One year of automated litigation support experience.
  • Knowledge of eDiscovery and trial procedures.
  • Familiarity with legal research and analysis principles.
  • Understanding of forfeiture laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including legal writing.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and other software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments.
