Overview

The Ocean is a coastal-inspired restaurant located in Bayville, NY, known for its seafood-forward menu and vibrant brunch service. They are looking for a Full-Time Line Cook to join their kitchen team, where the focus is on delivering excellent guest experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute menu items during lunch, dinner, and brunch service
  • Work assigned kitchen stations, including grill, sauté, fry, and prep
  • Maintain consistent portioning, plating, and presentation standards
  • Follow recipes, prep lists, and chef direction accurately
  • Maintain cleanliness and comply with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Assist with daily prep, stocking, and station setup/closing duties
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and expeditor during service
  • Support specials, seasonal menu updates, and events as needed

Required skills

  • Experience as a line cook or prep cook in a restaurant kitchen
  • Experience in high-volume, fast-paced food service environments
  • Basic understanding of cooking techniques, knife skills, and kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively under pressure
  • Full-time availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Preferred: Seafood or coastal cuisine experience
  • Preferred: Brunch service experience
  • Preferred: Multi-station kitchen experience (grill, sauté, fry)
  • Preferred: ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
