Job Description

Overview

The Lighting & Shade Technician is a field-based role focused on the installation, activation, testing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of lighting control and motorized shade systems for high-end residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. The technician will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure successful project completion and will be responsible for managing tasks on construction sites in the NYC Metro area.

Key responsibilities

  • Install, mount, terminate, and activate lighting control devices and low voltage control equipment.
  • Assist with panel trim out, module activation, and field verification.
  • Install and test motorized roller shades and related components.
  • Assist with programming and commissioning of lighting and shading systems.
  • Troubleshoot communication and device faults.
  • Document open items and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Maintain accurate field notes and daily progress updates.

Required skills

  • Minimum 2 years of field experience with lighting control and low voltage systems.
  • Ability to read and work from various technical drawings and reports.
  • Working knowledge of low voltage wiring practices.
  • Comfortable using laptops, mobile apps, and programming software.
  • Professional communication skills with clients and other trades.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in construction environments.
