Job Description

Overview

The Lifeguard at Northeast College of Health Sciences is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons at the Health & Fitness Center by preventing drowning and injuries. This role requires strong critical thinking and decision-making skills to effectively respond to emergencies and maintain a safe pool environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Protect the well-being of each swimmer
  • Open and close the pool daily according to schedule
  • Scan the pool area actively while refraining from socializing
  • Communicate and enforce policies and regulations
  • Educate patrons about pool rules and regulations
  • Respond to injuries and emergencies as per college policy
  • Administer first aid when necessary
  • Document incidents and injuries
  • Maintain a clean and secure pool environment
  • Attend regular in-service trainings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Current ARC certification
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and operational procedures
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to make informed decisions independently
  • Strong customer service skills
