Overview

The YMCA of Greater Flint is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons in the pool area. This role involves maintaining active surveillance, responding to emergencies, and applying safety guidelines while fostering a supportive community environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain active surveillance of the pool area
  • Know and review all emergency procedures, responding to emergencies promptly
  • Apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area
  • Perform chemical testing and equipment checks as needed
  • Maintain accurate records as required
  • Check the pool for hazardous conditions upon arrival

Required skills

  • Current lifeguard certification or 2+ years of swimming experience
  • Ability to swim competently
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and submerging in water
