Overview

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at CHRISTUS Health provides professional nursing care to clinic patients under supervision. This role involves collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure quality patient care, performing general nursing duties, and assisting in various medical procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to clinic patients under supervision
  • Administer treatments and medications according to nursing standards
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and treatments
  • Record and report patients' conditions and reactions to treatments
  • Maintain timely patient flow and manage appointment bookings
  • Prepare patients for physical exams and instruct on sample collections
  • Perform vital signs monitoring and initial patient assessments
  • Document patient care plans and maintain accurate patient records
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Participate in professional development and maintain licensure

Required skills

  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing
  • Valid state license to practice nursing
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience in a medical office is preferred
  • Familiarity with ICD9, CPT, and HCPCS coding
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients and providers
