Overview

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Clinic - General Surgery at CHRISTUS Health in Texarkana, Texas, provides essential patient care under the supervision of physicians or registered nurses. The role involves a range of clinical and clerical duties aimed at facilitating patient flow and ensuring compliance with established healthcare standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs and weigh patients
  • Collect specimens, including performing phlebotomy
  • Assist providers in the examination and treatment of patients
  • Help manage patient flow through the clinic
  • Document patient information and communicate with providers regarding patient calls
  • Schedule test appointments and assist with pre-certification
  • Administer medications and immunizations as per provider orders
  • Clean and restock exam rooms and equipment
  • Perform routine clerical tasks such as locating patient charts and filing
  • Attend required meetings and complete necessary training

Required skills

  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing
  • LVN License in state of employment or compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience in patient care and handling lab procedures
  • Proficient in clerical duties and patient scheduling
