Overview

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the Cardiology Clinic at CHRISTUS Health provides essential care to patients under the supervision of physicians or registered nurses. The role involves performing various lab procedures, assisting in patient examinations, and managing clerical duties to ensure smooth operation within the clinic.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide basic patient care duties, including obtaining vital signs and weighing patients
  • Collect specimens, including phlebotomy, as required
  • Assist provider(s) in examination and treatment of patients
  • Manage patient flow through the clinic
  • Answer phones and record messages, assisting with patient-related calls
  • Schedule test appointments and assist with pre-certification
  • Document patient-related information accurately
  • Assist with medication refills and administer medications/immunizations as ordered
  • Clean and restock exam rooms and equipment according to policy
  • Perform routine clerical duties, including locating patient charts and filing
  • Attend required meetings and in-service training

Required skills

  • LVN License in state of employment or compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience in patient care and healthcare settings
  • Familiarity with vital signs monitoring and phlebotomy
  • Clinical clerical skills
