Job Description

Overview

The Licensed Childcare Site Coordinator at Essex Junction Recreation & Parks will oversee and coordinate state licensed afterschool programs, vacation camps, and summer day camps. This role ensures high-quality childcare services while supporting students during the school day, fostering a supportive environment for children's development.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for childcare programs
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal licensing regulations
  • Supervise and support site staff, facilitating monthly meetings
  • Monitor and manage student behavior effectively
  • Maintain safety and accessibility in program spaces
  • Communicate regularly with parents about activities and student behavior
  • Coordinate off-site field trips for up to 72 children
  • Manage day-to-day camp operations including schedules and supplies
  • Support students as a Mainstream Teaching Assistant during the school day

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in youth services or program management
  • CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain
  • Valid Vermont Driver's License and good driving record
  • Ability to obtain a CDL within one year of hire
  • Ability to be trained in Responsive Classroom and CPI/TCI/Handle With Care
