Overview

The Liability Risk Manager at CoxHealth is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of the healthcare system's claims and liability matters. Reporting to the Administrative Director of Insurance and Risk Management, this role involves directing the lifecycle of various high-risk claims, engaging in litigation management, and collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders to safeguard the organization's interests.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of professional liability and high-risk claims.
  • Lead complex claims investigations and litigation management.
  • Establish and monitor claim reserves, ensuring timely reporting.
  • Collaborate with defense counsel and internal legal teams.
  • Provide oversight of litigation activities, including discovery and settlement negotiations.
  • Identify trends and manage potentially compensable events.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies across the healthcare system.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Required skills

  • Strong understanding of medical malpractice and general liability claims processes
  • Proficiency with claims management systems and data analysis tools
