Overview

The Liability Risk Manager at CoxHealth oversees the healthcare system's claims and liability matters, reporting to the Administrative Director of Insurance and Risk Management. This role involves managing the full lifecycle of various claims, providing strategic oversight of litigation activities, and ensuring the organization’s legal and financial interests are protected.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage professional liability, medical malpractice, general liability, and other high-risk claims
  • Direct investigation, evaluation, litigation management, resolution, and closure of claims
  • Assess legal liability, causation, damages, and trial risk
  • Establish and justify claim reserves and ensure timely reporting to insurers
  • Serve as the primary liaison with defense counsel and internal legal teams
  • Provide oversight for discovery management, motion practice, and settlement negotiations
  • Collaborate with various departments to identify trends and manage potential compensable events
  • Promote risk mitigation strategies and a culture of safety and accountability

Required skills

  • 5 years of professional liability claims experience
  • Strong understanding of medical malpractice and general liability claims processes
