Overview

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead Software Engineer specialized in embedded software development to join their team in Dayton, Ohio. The role involves overseeing all phases of the software engineering lifecycle for the development of Infrared Camera product lines, while embodying the company’s dedication to customer satisfaction and professional growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and execution of large technical projects
  • Apply software engineering designs and principles throughout the software lifecycle
  • Define requirements and workflows for software components
  • Perform unit, integration, and system testing
  • Support bid and proposal activities including cost and schedule estimation
  • Guide, coach, and train employees
  • Generate technical documentation for software releases
  • Implement operational plans that impact business results

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field
  • 9 years of relevant engineering experience or a graduate degree with 7 years of experience
  • 2+ years experience in C/C++ for embedded software development
  • 2+ years experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • 2+ years experience leading an engineering team
  • Experience with low level software such as drivers and Board Support Packages (BSPs)
  • Familiarity with communication protocols like Ethernet, RS422, 1553, GigE Vision, CoaXPress, and Camera Link
  • Basic knowledge of hardware design, circuits, and test equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with software version control using Subversion
  • Experience in Windows and Linux development environments
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and DMMs
  • Experience in the Defense, Space, Aerospace, or similar industries
