Overview

The Lead Respiratory Therapist at Wellstar Health Systems will oversee the daily activities of a designated shift, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of patient care. This role involves mentoring staff, facilitating training, and supporting clinical operations in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the daily activities of an assigned shift
  • Assure safe patient care by analyzing patient needs and staff competency
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and planning for care delivery
  • Assign shift workload and oversee preceptors
  • Monitor equipment inventory and assist with staffing levels
  • Provide clinical assistance and support staff education
  • Participate in quality initiatives and process improvement activities
  • Evaluate quality of patient care through rounds and corrective actions

Required skills

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification
  • NBRC-RRT credential
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience in critical care areas
  • Strong leadership and collaborative communication skills
  • Experience in onboarding and training new staff
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality improvement and patient safety
