Job Description

Overview

The Lead Respiratory Therapist at Wellstar Health Systems is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of an assigned shift, ensuring the safe delivery of patient care. This role involves facilitating communication, supporting staff, and participating in quality and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily activities of assigned shift
  • Assure safe patient care by analyzing patient needs and staff competency
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary communication for timely care delivery
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide input to supervisors
  • Assign shift workloads and preceptors
  • Maintain financial stewardship and daily equipment function
  • Provide clinical support and assistance to staff as necessary
  • Monitor equipment inventory and ensure resource availability
  • Participate in quality improvement, customer service, and safety initiatives
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new employees

Required skills

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required upon hire
  • NRP certification or instructor within 180 days preferred
  • Current advanced credential with a minimum of two years clinical experience in critical care
  • Experience in various clinical areas including ICU, CVICU, BURN, NICU, and Emergency Departments
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data and promote process improvements
