Job Description

Overview

As a Lead Research Engineer at GE Vernova, you will architect and develop advanced embedded systems for real-time controls and industrial communication applications. You will lead R&D projects focused on energy solutions in collaboration with government agencies, universities, and commercial partners, contributing to the advancement of technologies for a more sustainable future.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop FPGA solutions for embedded systems and industrial control systems
  • Leverage FPGA design tools for simulation, testing, and optimization of real-time systems
  • Shape and pursue opportunities with U.S. government agencies like DOE and DOD
  • Transition embedded controls and communication systems from lab demonstrations to prototypes
  • Collaborate with universities and commercial partners to advance embedded systems
  • Publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open-source communities

Required skills

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, or Master's with 2 years' experience, or Bachelor'
  • 2-5 years of FPGA and SoC design experience using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL
  • Hands-on experience with Xilinx and/or Intel FPGA devices and tools
  • Solid understanding of digital logic design and simulation techniques
  • Familiarity with high-speed interfaces like UART, SPI, Ethernet, etc.
  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git preferred)
  • Experience with high-level synthesis (HLS) tools
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++, C#, Python, etc.
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems and Linux driver development
