Job Description

Overview

As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Capital One, you will be integral to an Agile team focused on developing and scaling machine learning applications. Your role will involve technical design, implementation, and maintenance of machine learning models and infrastructures, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with Product and Data Science teams to address real-world business challenges.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deliver ML models and components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to enhance software for big data and ML applications
  • Write and test application code, develop and validate ML models, and automate tests and deployment
  • Retrain, maintain, and monitor production models
  • Construct optimized data pipelines for ML models
  • Utilize continuous integration and continuous deployment best practices
  • Ensure code quality, model governance, and adherence to Responsible and Explainable AI practices

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 6 years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
  • At least 4 years of programming experience with Python, Scala, or Java
  • Experience building, scaling, and optimizing ML systems
  • 3+ years of experience with ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, Dask, Spark, or TensorFlow
  • Experience in developing performant, resilient, and maintainable code
  • Experience with data gathering and preparation for ML models
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience
  • Experience developing and deploying ML solutions in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience designing and implementing complex data pipelines for ML models
