Overview

As a Lead Engineer - Design at GE Vernova, you will be responsible for developing advanced FPGA solutions for embedded systems that focus on real-time controls and industrial communication applications. This role involves leading and collaborating on R&D projects with various stakeholders, including government agencies and academic institutions, to foster innovation and transition developments into GE's business products.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop FPGA solutions for embedded systems and industrial control systems (ICS)
  • Leverage FPGA design tools to simulate, test, and optimize real-time embedded systems
  • Shape and pursue external opportunities with U.S. government agencies like the DOE and DOD
  • Work with GE businesses to transition real-time embedded controls from lab demonstrations to prototypes
  • Collaborate with universities, industrial consortiums, and commercial partners
  • Publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open-source communities

Required skills

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines with industry experience
  • 2-5 years of strong FPGA and SoC design experience using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL
  • Hands-on experience with Xilinx and/or Intel FPGA devices and design tools like ModelSim, Intel Quartus, and Xilinx Viva
  • Solid understanding of digital logic design and experience with RTL simulation, synthesis, and timing closure
  • Familiarity with high-speed interfaces like UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, PCIe, and DDR
  • Experience developing testbenches and performing functional verification
  • Proficient in version control systems, preferably Git
  • Experience with high-level synthesis tools and algorithm-to-hardware workflows
  • Embedded programming skills in C/C++, C#, Python, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and microcontroller programming
  • Experience with CI/CD technologies like GitLab and Jenkins
