Job Description

Overview

The Lead Assembler for the 3rd Shift at Metalcraft of Mayville is responsible for overseeing the assembly line and assisting the supervisor. This role involves assembling parts, providing instruction to assemblers, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Supervisor in directing and assisting assemblers
  • Prepare work by studying assembly instructions and gathering materials
  • Coordinate orders with material handling and Production Control
  • Position parts and subassemblies using templates or measurements
  • Assemble components by examining connections and fastening parts
  • Verify specifications by measuring completed components
  • Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions or notifying supervisor
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance tasks
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment
  • Manage inventory of supplies and document production actions

Required skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform dimensional measuring and use precision measurement tools
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks
  • Understanding of 'G' and 'M' codes with applicable computer skills
  • Teamwork and coordination with other departments
  • Experience in manufacturing and leading employees preferred
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing environment preferred
