The ideal candidate will have experience using nesting software, managing material utilization, and running high-power laser equipment efficiently and safely in a fast-paced, custom production environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram and optimize cutting jobs using nesting software to maximize material yield and machine efficiencySet up and operate a 12kW laser cutting machine to cut a variety of metals (steel, stainless, aluminum, etc.)Load materials, align and fixture workpieces, and verify machine parameters before cuttingRead and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documents to ensure correct part geometry and tolerancesInspect cut parts for edge quality, dimensions, and accuracy using measurement toolsPerform routine machine maintenance, monitor consumables, and report issues or required repairsMaintain clean and safe work environment and comply with all safety protocolsRequired QualificationsMinimum 2-4 years of experience operating laser cutting machines in a production environmentExperience with 12kW fiber laser systems or similar high-power equipmentProficiency with nesting software (e.g., SigmaNEST, ProNest, or equivalent)Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprintsFamiliarity with metal types, thicknesses, and how they respond to laser cuttingStrong attention to detail and ability to work independentlyHigh school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in laser operations preferred
