Overview

The Lactation Consultant RN at HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital is responsible for providing quality patient care to postpartum mother/baby combinations under the supervision of the Nursing Director or Supervisor. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, while also promoting process improvement and multidisciplinary collaboration in the delivery of nursing services.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Direct nursing care for patients according to established clinical practices and regulations
  • Incorporate knowledge of patient age-specific development and cultural values into care plans
  • Contribute to quality nursing care through process improvement techniques
  • Supervise students as needed, ensuring they meet licensure and training requirements

Required skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) within 1 year of employment
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment
  • Neonate Resuscitate certification within 90 days of employment
