Overview

The Lactation Consultant RN at HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital is responsible for delivering quality patient care to postpartum mother/baby combinations. This role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, while also incorporating cultural values and age-specific development into their nursing practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver quality patient care through nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Direct nursing care for postpartum mother/baby combinations
  • Incorporate knowledge of patient’s age, development, and cultural values into care plans
  • Participate in process improvement techniques and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Provide direct supervision of nursing students as required

Required skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification
  • Experience in lactation consulting, postpartum care, and patient care
