Job Description

Overview

The Lactation Consultant RN at HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital is responsible for providing quality patient care to postpartum mother/baby pairs and performing clinical duties as assigned. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and adherence to established nursing practices and regulations to ensure positive patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct nursing care for postpartum mother/baby combinations.
  • Incorporate patient's age-specific development and cultural values into care plans.
  • Contribute to quality nursing care through process improvement techniques.
  • Supervise nursing students as required.

Required skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification required within 1 year
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification within 90 days
  • Experience in lactation consulting and neonatal care preferred
