Overview

H&K Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Laborer for their Birdsboro Quarry. This regular full-time position requires adherence to safety policies while performing essential construction duties, including concrete mixing, heavy equipment operation, and more.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Acquire tools needed for daily operations
  • Measure distances, drive stakes, and stretch tight line
  • Align, block up under forms using bolts and nails
  • Signal construction equipment operators for alignment and adjustments
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Mix and finish concrete
  • Position, align, and seal pipe sections
  • Assist with pre-run markings and paving tasks
  • Operate vibratory plate and perform backfilling duties
  • Direct traffic around work areas
  • Prepare structures for installation
  • Check for proper pipe slope and shoot grades

Required skills

  • One month of related experience or training
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills for computing rates and interpreting graphs
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and problem solve
  • Ability to use appropriate PPE
  • Meet physical requirements including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Experience in heavy civil construction or road construction is preferred
  • OSHA or relevant safety certifications are a plus
