Overview

The Laboratory Director at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital is responsible for directing operations and programs within the laboratory to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This leadership role aims to foster staff development and quality care delivery while managing financial operations and maintaining effective communication within the department.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct operations and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure adequate staffing and manage staff training and performance
  • Develop and implement department strategies for service quality and patient satisfaction
  • Oversee financial operations and prepare monthly operational reviews
  • Assure compliance with accrediting standards and manage vendor relationships
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for laboratory operations
  • Foster open communication and actively seek feedback from staff

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist
  • 3 years of progressive laboratory management experience
  • Florida License in multiple areas: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Histology, Microbiology, Serology/Immunology
  • Experience in hospital clinical laboratory settings
