Overview

HCA Houston Healthcare West is seeking a Laboratory Director who will be responsible for directing operations, programs, and activities to ensure regulatory compliance, staffing adequacy, and innovation within the laboratory. This role involves overseeing financial operations, managing vendor relationships, and fostering a culture of coaching and open communication among staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Directs laboratory operations to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Ensures adequate staffing through hiring and performance management
  • Develops staff through coaching and regular feedback
  • Sets and executes department strategies aligned with service and quality goals
  • Monitors financial operations and resource utilization
  • Ensures compliance with standards set by accrediting agencies
  • Manages vendor relationships and supply contracts
  • Fosters open communication within the department

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist
  • 3+ years of progressive laboratory management experience
  • Complex laboratory operations experience
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
