Overview

HCA Houston Healthcare West is seeking a Laboratory Director to lead the laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while driving innovation and operational efficiency. The role involves overseeing staffing, financial management, and fostering communication within the team to improve patient care and service quality.

Key responsibilities

  • Directs laboratory operations to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Ensures adequate staffing through hiring, training, and performance management
  • Coaches and develops staff while serving as a role model
  • Sets and executes department strategies for service, quality, and compliance
  • Evaluates and incorporates feedback for department improvements
  • Monitors financial operations and resource utilization of the laboratory
  • Assures compliance with accrediting agencies' standards
  • Manages vendor relationships and supply contracts
  • Develops and implements communication plans for department personnel
  • Delegates responsibilities in accordance with regulatory guidelines

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist
  • 3+ years of progressive laboratory management experience
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and standards
