Overview

HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Director to lead laboratory operations and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This role focuses on driving innovation, developing staff, and overseeing financial operations to enhance patient care and satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct laboratory operations to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure adequate staffing through timely hiring, training, and performance management
  • Develop and coach staff while serving as a role model
  • Set and execute department strategies for service, quality, and compliance
  • Evaluate and incorporate feedback from internal and external sources for improvement
  • Monitor financial operations and resource utilization within the laboratory
  • Assure compliance with standards set by accrediting agencies
  • Manage vendor relationships and supply contracts
  • Implement communication plans to keep department personnel informed
  • Provide coaching and training to ensure operational efficiency

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist
  • 7 years of progressive laboratory management experience
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and operational strategy
