Job Description

Overview

Shields Pharma Inc., a GMP-approved organization in Markham, Ontario, is seeking a Laboratory Analyst Level 2 to join their team. This role focuses on generating accurate results in compliance with GMP requirements, analyzing various laboratory samples using established methods and instrumental techniques, and maintaining laboratory documentation and equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform raw material, in-process, finished product, and stability sample testing using various analytical methods.
  • Prepare analytical equipment for experiments including reagents and test solutions.
  • Conduct analytical methods transfer, verification, validation, and stability testing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of lab reports and results in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Order general lab supplies as needed.
  • Document analytical test results and ensure timely reporting of results.
  • Maintain lab books and equipment logbooks according to department policies.
  • Notify QC management of aberrant results and participate in investigations.
  • Conduct laboratory instruments qualification, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
  • Provide training to new or existing personnel as needed.

Required skills

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical, Analytical Chemistry or related fields
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical disciplines
  • Knowledge of Dissolution, HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, and other laboratory instrumentation
  • Experience in method validation and application of analytical methods
  • Understanding of USP, BP, EP, and JP methods and specifications
  • Knowledge of cGMP, GDP, Health Canada, FDA, ICH regulations
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks
