Job Description

Overview

Shields Pharma Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Analyst Level 1 to assist the QC Supervisor and Technical Department with various quality control functions in their lab based in Markham, Ontario. The role involves performing chemical testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards as part of the QC unit.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform chemical testing of raw material, in-process, and finished product samples
  • Prepare analytical equipment for experiments, including reagents and test solutions
  • Document testing results and maintain lab notebooks accurately
  • Order lab supplies as necessary
  • Maintain laboratory documentation according to Good Documentation Practices
  • Operate and maintain analytical instruments, performing basic troubleshooting
  • Participate in laboratory improvements and other duties as assigned
  • Notify management of any abnormal test results and assist in investigations

Required skills

  • B.Sc. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical, Analytical Chemistry or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical or allied industries
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC, UV-VIS, and Dissolution
  • Understanding of regulatory standards including cGMP, GDP, and FDA CFR 211
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Ability to work as a team member with strong communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment
