Find your calling at Mercy! The Lab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position. What You'll Do Collect laboratory specimens safely, accurately, and professionally through skilled phlebotomy practicesProcess, transport, and refer laboratory specimens according to established proceduresSupport laboratory operations through data entry, reporting, scheduling, and administrative functionsMaintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and laboratory policiesEnsure accurate and timely handling of laboratory reports and informationDeliver outstanding customer service to patients, providers, and coworkersComplete competency and departmental training requirements under laboratory leadership guidanceContribute to a culture of teamwork, quality, and patient-centered care Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalentBLS certification within six months of hireSuccessful completion of probationary periodNo active disciplinary actions or performance improvement plansStrong communication, organizational, and customer service skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment Preferred Qualifications College coursework in Chemistry, Biology, or other science-related fieldsPrevious clinical laboratory experienceExperience with specimen collection and laboratory processes Why Mercy?
