Overview

The Cytology Laboratory Supervisor at Carle Health will assist the Lab Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the cytology laboratory. This role includes ensuring regulatory compliance, monitoring quality metrics, and supervising the lab staff while fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Lab Manager with daily laboratory operations.
  • Oversee regulatory preparedness and compliance in the laboratory.
  • Monitor quality and performance metrics.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and supervise lab personnel.
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense reporting.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and manage workload.
  • Implement corrective actions to meet established turnaround times.
  • Evaluate and recommend new instrumentation and ensure staff training.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology or Biological Science
  • Certification as a Cytologist (CT) from ASCP
  • 3 years of experience in a pathology laboratory
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and regulatory compliance
  • Skills in budget management and performance evaluation
  • Experience in staff training and clinical operations
