Overview

LabCorp is looking for a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee operations in the Chemistry department in Tampa, FL. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of laboratory tests, supervising staff, and engaging in process and service improvements while adhering to regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the Chemistry department
  • Ensure accurate laboratory tests and timely reporting of results
  • Train and mentor laboratory personnel
  • Monitor daily workflow and ensure proper staffing
  • Research and resolve production errors
  • Engage in continuous process improvement
  • Maintain quality control and assurance records
  • Meet regularly with direct reports for coaching and feedback
  • Perform bench work and maintain technical proficiency
  • Administer policies and procedures, including payroll and personnel files

Required skills

  • Associates degree in a relevant science field
  • 4+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • Chemistry Supervisor State License preferred
  • Understanding of laboratory operations and regulations
  • Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment
  • Strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and state regulations
  • Proficient with computers and laboratory information systems
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
