Overview

The Lab Supervisor at OhioHealth is responsible for overseeing the technical operations and staff within a clinical laboratory. This role emphasizes a strong commitment to customer service and regulatory compliance while fostering employee development and maintaining optimal laboratory efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct departmental technical operations and human resources
  • Promote customer service with a focus on high performance standards
  • Resolve operational and technical problems between departments
  • Investigate specimen problems and service complaints
  • Consult with physicians and other hospital departments on laboratory matters
  • Develop and implement new procedures to improve functionality and service
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as CAP and CLIA
  • Monitor workflow, staffing assignments, and overall productivity
  • Provide training and support continuing education for staff
  • Promote employee development and maintain effective peer relationships
  • Lead by example according to OhioHealth's mission and values
  • Participate in continuing education programs in both technical and managerial areas
  • Perform responsibilities of Med Techs and Lab Specialists as needed
  • Complete other miscellaneous duties as assigned
