Overview

Great Performances is seeking a skilled Kitchen Manager to oversee culinary operations in New York City. This role requires a hands-on leader with a passion for food quality and team development, ensuring high standards in a fast-paced environment while collaborating closely with service teams to uphold the company's mission and values.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure prompt preparation, freshness, and high-quality execution of all dishes served
  • Develop new recipes and assist with menu planning
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor kitchen staff
  • Coordinate kitchen staff schedules and daily operations
  • Manage inventory levels and purchasing of food and supplies
  • Partner with the General Manager for smooth communication between teams
  • Address guest or client concerns regarding food and service quality

Required skills

  • 5-7+ years of experience in a professional kitchen or food service environment
  • 2-4 years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of basic culinary techniques
  • Excellent knife skills
  • NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificate (a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of NYC DOH guidelines
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and leadership skills
