Overview

Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace is seeking a full-time Kitchen Manager for their gourmet store in Yorktown Heights, NY. This role involves supervising kitchen staff, managing inventory and food storage, preparing gourmet dishes, and ensuring high customer satisfaction through quality and timely food service.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise kitchen staff and their daily functions
  • Manage pantry and inventory levels
  • Prepare dishes according to company recipes
  • Assist with hiring, training, and scheduling staff
  • Order kitchen materials and ingredients
  • Maintain a clean working environment and follow safety policies
  • Conduct daily and weekly inventory checks
  • Create menu items and establish portion sizes
  • Oversee training for safe operation of kitchen equipment

Required skills

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a restaurant/BOH environment
  • Knowledge of food safety rules and standards
  • Experience in preparing Italian cuisine
  • Understanding of back of house administrative duties
  • Prior teaching and mentoring experience
  • Outstanding communication and supervisory skills
  • High motivation and quick thinking
