Overview

Join KEYS Academy as a Special Education Teacher and contribute to a structured, trauma-informed learning environment for K-12 students with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Supported by Health Connect America, this role focuses on delivering individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals while fostering a safe and dignified atmosphere for students to thrive academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned to Virginia Standards of Learning and individual student IEP goals.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet varied academic and behavioral needs.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching strategies and positive behavioral supports.
  • Establish and maintain a predictable and student-centered classroom environment.
  • Collect and analyze data aligned to IEP goals and academic benchmarks.
  • Serve as case manager for assigned students and attend IEP meetings.
  • Promote communication development and social-emotional learning in lessons.
  • Participate in required trainings and professional development activities.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
  • Active Virginia teaching license in Special Education
  • Strong knowledge of Special Education law and IEP development
  • Classroom management and structured teaching skills
  • Ability to analyze student data and make instructional decisions
  • Proficiency with educational technology and online learning platforms
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
