Overview

Join KEYS Academy as a Special Education Teacher, where you will lead a structured, trauma-informed classroom that promotes academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth for students in grades K-12. Supported by Health Connect America, you'll work in a close-knit environment while utilizing evidence-based practices to make a measurable impact on at-risk students.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned to Virginia Standards of Learning and student IEP goals
  • Differentiate instruction to meet varied academic, behavioral, communication, and sensory needs
  • Implement evidence-based teaching strategies and positive behavioral supports
  • Create and maintain a safe and student-centered classroom environment
  • Support student sensory and behavior regulation needs
  • Collect and analyze data aligned to IEP goals and provide constructive feedback
  • Serve as case manager for assigned students and develop IEP goals
  • Actively teach and reinforce the KEYS for a Big Life Curriculum
  • Collaborate with families and attend IEP meetings
  • Participate in required trainings and maintain professional standards

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Active Virginia teaching license in Special Education
  • Endorsement in Emotional Disabilities or Special Education General Curriculum
  • Strong knowledge of Special Education law and IEP development
  • Classroom management and structured teaching skills
  • Ability to analyze student data for instructional decisions
  • Proficiency with educational technology and online learning platforms
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
