Overview

FM is a leading mutual insurance company focused on property risk management and resilience for its policyholder-owners, including many major organizations. The Jurisdictional Consultant / Boiler Inspector role involves conducting in-service inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in the Greater Boston area, requiring certain qualifications and a commitment to safety and technical standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct in-service jurisdictional inspections of boilers and pressure vessels
  • Ensure compliance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and other regulations
  • Manage and evaluate inspection processes
  • Consult with clients regarding inspections and compliance
  • Receive training to develop necessary skills for the position
  • Perform inspections at various locations to mitigate hazards
  • Travel approximately 30% of the time

Required skills

  • BS in Engineering, associate degree, or high school diploma
  • National Board and state certifications (desired)
  • Experience in boiler and pressure vessel construction and inspection
  • Understanding of management systems and nondestructive methods
  • Strong technical knowledge of the industry
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer application skills
