Overview

The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking a Junior Specialist to join the Lindcove Research and Extension Center in Exeter, California. This role focuses on applied research and extension programs related to integrated pest management of arthropod pests in citrus crops, primarily serving the growers in the San Joaquin Valley.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct applied research on integrated pest management for citrus crops.
  • Design and oversee greenhouse experiments and insect colonies.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate management practices.
  • Coordinate outreach and assistance to citrus industry stakeholders.
  • Develop educational tools and resources for growers and pest control advisors.
  • Lead tours and provide training to various stakeholders.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Plant Sciences, Entomology, Pest Management, Agriculture or related field.
  • Interest in a career within UC Cooperative Extension.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed with a valid California Driver's License.
  • Experience in data analysis and project management.
  • Collaborative teamwork and flexibility.
