Overview

Larkin Benefit Administrators is looking for a detail-oriented Junior Human Resources Consultant to join their experienced team. This role involves supporting various client engagements with a focus on employee relations, performance management, compliance with wage laws, and management training, providing an excellent opportunity for professional growth within HR consulting.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on a full spectrum of HR functions including employee relations and performance management.
  • Consult with clients on employee relations issues and leave of absence programs.
  • Coach clients on interpreting and enforcing employment laws and policies.
  • Develop and review HR documents and policies for compliance.
  • Assist in HR Practices Reviews and offer tailored training.
  • Facilitate the creation of customized employee handbooks.
  • Organize and manage client work plans and timelines.
  • Facilitate HR training programs on performance management and harassment prevention.
  • Contribute to the HR Newsletter by writing articles.
  • Generate reports on client activities and work status updates.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certification in HR (SPHR, PHR, PHRca, or SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP).
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of HR experience focusing on California employment laws.
  • Experience in employee relations and compliance with wage laws.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with HR software and technology tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research skills to analyze employment laws.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in conducting harassment prevention training.
  • Ability to travel within Northern California.
