Overview

The Journeyman Millwright at West Fraser in Jacksonville, Florida, is responsible for operating and maintaining the planer machine, ensuring a seamless lumber flow and quality finish. This role requires technical expertise in preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and the safe operation of machinery while adhering to safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

  • Feed the planer and ensure a constant lumber flow through the machine
  • Perform critical measurements and maintain proper setup of the planer
  • Conduct minor repairs and all routine maintenance and lubrication
  • Assist maintenance on major repairs as needed
  • Change knives and perform housekeeping as assigned by the supervisor
  • Complete the West Fraser Qualified Millwright training and competency checklist
  • Work outdoors and handle heavy lifting as required
  • Follow all safety rules, lockout procedures, and use personal protective equipment
