Job Description

Overview

The Journeyperson Electrician at Silent-Aire, a subsidiary of Johnson Controls, is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical systems and equipment. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations and applicable codes while providing technical guidance and oversight for apprentices in the department.

Key responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications for electrical work
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to apprentices
  • Install, terminate, and test conduit systems and electrical equipment
  • Construct and fabricate electrical control panels and systems
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Complete maintenance records and technical documentation
  • Assist in developing preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Train and support junior employees and apprentices

Required skills

  • Valid Alberta Journeyperson Electrician Certificate
  • In-depth knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for electrical systems
  • Ability to mentor and coach apprentices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Experience with electrical maintenance and inspections
  • Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment
