Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on IT Project Manager for a 3-month contract-to-hire position in East Lansing, Michigan. The role involves driving technology initiatives, utilizing JIRA within an Agile/Scrum environment, and ensuring projects are completed on time while managing stakeholder expectations.

Key responsibilities

  • Organize and manage project work in JIRA, translating business and user input into structured epics, stories, and tasks
  • Write and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, and test plans within JIRA
  • Track tickets, dependencies, progress, and risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Facilitate meetings with end users, Business Analysts, and Developers
  • Maintain strong project documentation including requirements, workflows, decisions, and timelines
  • Keep stakeholders accountable to timelines, priorities, and deliverables
  • Provide project and Agile reporting using JIRA and AI-enabled tools
  • Support Agile ceremonies and workflows, primarily Scrum

Required skills

  • Project management experience in technology or systems-focused environment
  • Strong knowledge of Agile Scrum methodologies
  • Experience using AI tools like Claude, Copilot, or ChatGPT
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA for story creation and ticket management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-starter capable of operating independently
