Job Description

Overview

The Middlesex Corporation is a leader in heavy civil construction, focusing on building and reconstructing infrastructure such as highways and bridges. The Iron Worker role involves safely positioning and uniting steel structures to create frameworks necessary for construction projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Comply with and promote all Safety policies and procedures
  • Read specifications and blueprints to determine material requirements
  • Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members
  • Hoist steel beams, girders, and columns using cranes
  • Verify alignment and plumbing of steel structures
  • Connect columns, beams, and girders following blueprints

Required skills

  • 3 years' experience with layout, connecting, and rigging
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation
  • Rigging experience including hand signals and use of rigging gear
  • NCCER certification (preferred)
  • Team collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
