Overview

A.O. Smith is seeking an experienced IoT Engineering Leader to define, build, and scale an enterprise-wide IoT platform for connected water management solutions. This role involves creating a secure and scalable platform and leading a high-performing global engineering organization, reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and own the enterprise IoT platform vision and strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish a technical north star and reference architecture spanning IoT capabilities.
  • Translate strategy into a multi-year platform roadmap focusing on scalability and security.
  • Lead the design, development, and evolution of a global IoT platform.
  • Ensure interoperability across products and business units.
  • Set and enforce engineering standards for architecture and compliance.
  • Build and lead a global IoT platform engineering organization.
  • Attract and develop engineering talent while fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to enable stable and reusable platform capabilities.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in platform, cloud, or IoT engineering.
  • Proven delivery of complex globally deployed technology platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems and cloud architectures.
  • Experience in matrixed global enterprise environments.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity and data privacy considerations.
  • Experience in enterprise-wide platform transformations.
