Job Description

Overview

Job Description: Our Client, a well-capitalized global entertainment company in an aggressive growth phase, is seeking an Interim Director, FP&A to build out its U.S. financial planning and analysis function. Location: Century City, Los Angeles (Onsite 3 days/week) Duration: 3 months to start, with potential to convert to a permanent role Start Date: ASAP About the Role The U.S. finance team is currently lean and accounting-focused. As the company executes a major growth strategy, leadership needs to build a strong FP&A function from the ground up. This is a builder role, not a maintainer role, reporting directly to the CFO in a lean, high-ownership environment. What You'll Do Build and own the FP&A function for the U.S. operation, starting with foundational deliverables (13-week cash flow forecast, operating model) before expanding into commercial deal management and M&A support Operationalize the company's Long-Range Plan and strategic plan, translating high-level targets into a detailed U.S. operating layer with assumptions, drivers, and accountability metrics Develop and maintain commercial underwriting models for the company's core business investments, covering deal economics, return profiles, and recoupment dynamics as the company scales Partner directly with the CFO on M&A financial analysis and modeling across an active acquisition pipeline, working from existing templates and building deal-specific models as needed Build the 13-week cash flow forecast from the ground up and establish it as an ongoing, repeatable process Extract, structure, and model data across Excel and a set of evolving internal systems - sourcing and cleaning data independently rather than working from pre-packaged reports Work closely with the CFO and senior leadership in a lean, high-ownership environment requiring broad scope, initiative, and adaptability from day oneRequired Qualifications Entertainment industry background - including film/TV/streaming, media, events, or an adjacent commercial entertainment business model Broad, well-rounded FP&A skill set with comfort across operating models, commercial deal analysis, and M&A financial modeling simultaneously Strong financial modeling capabilities, including the ability to build models from scratch rather than maintain existing ones Comfort with data querying and bringing raw data to model-ready stage independently Resourceful and self-directed - comfortable operating without established playbooks or significant hand-holding, in an environment where systems and infrastructure are still evolvingPreferred Qualifications M&A financial analysis experience, including direct work on deal modeling and pipeline analysis Private equity or investment banking background Experience with Microsoft Business Central and/or NetSuite Data querying skills (SQL or similar)
